"In any given moment, we have two options:

to step forward into growth or to step back into safety."

– Abraham Maslow

Small steps, lasting change

Hi, I’m Lauraa Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and an NCPS-accredited counsellor.

This means I am fully qualified, insured, have regular Clinical Supervision and adhere to the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's professional Code of Ethics.

Are you feeling stressed, anxious, panicky or overwhelmed?

Do you feel like you can't carry on with things as they are, and something needs to change?

Maybe you've tried to do things differently, but you keep coming up against the same problems over and over again?

Or are you stuck in a cycle of low energy and hopelessness, and are struggling to move forwards?

I offer both online and in-person CBT and Counselling therapy (adults aged 18+) for a range of emotional challenges.

CBT can help to manage anxiety, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, and many other emotional issues. Whether it's a long-standing

problem that is effecting a number of areas in your life, or you're struggling with  a specific issue that you are finding difficult to manage, CBT is designed to help you develop coping strategies and improve your overall well-being.

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach - purely because no two people are the same. We all come with our own individual life-experiences, beliefs, opinions and values.

Whatever you are going through, together we can work through how you are feeling, what needs to change and how to make that change.

You are welcome here just as you are. No masks, no judgment, no pressure.

Online Therapy:

  • Sessions last for 50 minutes and are delivered online via Microsoft Teams, a secure and encrypted web platform. This means you can conveniently access therapy from anywhere with an internet connection without the need to be physically present, making it a flexible option for those with busy schedules or limited mobility.

In-person Therapy:

  • 50 minute sessions are held in a calm, comfortable therapy room at The Tree Room, 12 Trinity Street, Colchester CO1 1JN (see map below).

Using a blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion-focused Mindfulness techniques, I offer a confidential space where you can explore the challenges you are facing and develop realistic coping strategies to help overcome them.

I am also a Menopause Wellbeing Practitioner and know from personal experience the psychological turmoil that menopause can bring about; from anxiety and panic to mood swings, fatigue and insomnia. Using CBT and Somatic -based practices I can help women transitioning through menopause to manage the psychological and emotional effects of menopause.
